Welcome to Alonissos Museum |
||
Alonissos Museum in Patitiri The Alonissos Museum, founded in 2000 by Kostas and Angela Mavrikis, is the largest privately owned museum on any Greek island. In this four-storey building, located at a distance of only 30 meter from the harbour of Patitiri, Kostas and Angela gave place to the cultural inheritance of the island. In addition to historical items from Alonissos, the museum focuses on weapons and objects used in the early days by the pirates of the Aegean Sea. To complete the image of this beautiful stone-built building, every storey is forseen from marble sculptures and paintings of artists who visited or lived on the island respectively still live there. |

Two Openings of the Ingrid Pintgen Exhibition
- Published 2 September 2010
Originally the opening was planned for Monday evening the 23rd of August. All was done to make it possible that people from Skopelos (Ingrid's Home Town) could attend the opening. For a small sum they could use the "Glass Bottom" boat to come in time and return later in the evening. But..... due to the wind and the high waves the Port Police of Skopelos did not allow the captain of the Glass Bottom to leave the harbour. Panic all over in the museum, but soon one decided to go on that monday evening with the opening ceremony as well with the piano recital of David Lane. The first slide show underneath gives you an impression of that night where David Lane played exclusively for the Alonissos visitors of the Pintgen' exhibition.

Thursday the 26th of August the sea was calm and the Glass Bottom, filled with over 50 Skopelos' visitors, arrived in the harbour of Alonissos. Everybody admired the Alonissos Museum, enjoyed the recital and was enthousiastic about Ingrid's exhibition. The slide show underneath gives an impression of that Thursday night.
